Meditations On Leadership
These are my thoughts on leadership related topics and ideas. It is meant to be a sort of journal for me and if you find it useful than I am happy to have helped.
"The harder I practice, the luckier I get." -Gary Player “Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity.” - Seneca “Diligence is the mother of good luck.“ – Benjamin Franklin “The only thing that overcomes hard luck is hard work.“ – Harry Golden “Luck has a way of evaporating when you lean on it.” ― Brandon Mull, Keys to the Demon Prison I believe in luck, I really do. Sometimes good and bad things just happen. I also believe in miracles, sometimes amazing things happen that defy what we understand of science. However, the nature of both luck and miracles is that they are unreliable and not reproduceable so you shouldn't count on them. Your efforts, your work ethic, your mode of operating, your choices, and your habits. These things are under your control and they can make the difference between an event being good luck or bad luck, or even a miracle or a disaster. For example, imagine you have saved money from your business in a fund and there is an economic down turn that hits your industry. If you've saved enough you might just be ok or you might have the opportunity to buy out a competitor that didn't save like you did. That would be incredibly lucky wouldn't it? Leadership LessonYou shouldn't rely on luck but you have to accept that good and bad things sometimes just happen. Prepare for the future and maybe luck will favor you.
